No matter how much we like the idea of being gifted lingerie, many of our men leave much to be desired when it comes to choosing the right piece. That’s why MEME has created an easy guide for men to gift lingerie.

So the following is for you, the boyfriends.

1. Where to buy?
Aside from sports and gambling, the internet has another great value add for men: it makes buying these intimate and more discrete purchases all the more pain free…
If you thought talking to a girl for the first time was hard, buying lingerie at a department store is ten times worse. It feels like maze riddled with traps.
Be wise, buy online. Most websites will send your orders in non-branded packages and will have a sound return policy in case the gift doesn’t fit.
2. What size?
Generally the hardest of all questions, yet remarkably easy to answer. If you have access to it, look in the laundry basket. The underwear set she last wore is her regular size (bra sizes come in a number and a letter combo, i.e. 34B, write down both; knickers are easier at S-M-L-XL).
Alternatively, go for the always-chic triangle bra. For non-connoisseurs, triangle bras are cut like bikinis and come in easy S-M-L-XL sizing. If your girlfriend is a Kylie Minogue type, go for a Small, if she is more of a Nigella type, go for XL.
If everything else fails, just ask. We promise she’ll LOVE the anticipation.

3. What do I buy?
Though every woman is different, and therefore it is difficult to generalise, here are some general directions:
You can never go wrong if you buy a bra and knickers set. Make sure they are matching, as you will not get bonus points for getting two sale items in different colours.
Thong or knickers? If you know what style she generally uses, go for it. If in doubt, it is best to go for knickers, as she may feel uncomfortable with less fabric around that area.
A bodysuit, catsuit or babydoll is also a stylish choice, great to spice up bedroom play.

If you are in doubt about colours, black lingerie is always a safe bet. As for materials, lace, satin and silk will always get you the nod of approval.
Finally, play it safe. If you are in doubt on whether the set you chose is too provocative, it probably is (yes, that may leave crotch-less panties out of the equation).
